Lorem ipsum vs real copy: when each one makes sense
Use placeholder text and real copy at the right stage so design review stays fast without hiding real content problems too long.
Placeholder text is faster, but less informative
Lorem ipsum is useful because it gives teams instant text shaped content. That is perfect when the goal is to review spacing, module rhythm, card height or balance between sections before real messaging exists.
The tradeoff is obvious: placeholder text tells you almost nothing about clarity, tone, reading flow or search intent. It solves structural review, not content validation.
Real copy should take over before final review
As soon as a layout direction is stable, real copy should replace placeholder blocks. That is when teams start noticing weak headlines, awkward line breaks, thin sections or pages that still feel empty even though the layout itself looks fine.
The best workflow is not lorem ipsum versus real copy. It is lorem ipsum first for speed, then real copy early enough that SEO, readability and product messaging can still influence the design.
