Best placeholder text for mockups, wireframes and cards
Choose better placeholder text for different UI blocks so your mockups reveal spacing and hierarchy issues sooner.
Not every placeholder block needs the same density
A hero section, a pricing card and a blog excerpt do not need the same kind of filler text. Long paragraphs are useful for testing editorial layouts, while shorter sentence groups are better for cards, lists and compact UI areas.
That is why a flexible lorem ipsum generator is better than pasting the same static block everywhere. You can match the amount of text to the component you are evaluating instead of forcing one pattern across the whole page.
Placeholder text works best when it mimics the final shape
You do not need realistic meaning, but you do need realistic length. If the real interface will contain one line labels, short teasers or medium length paragraphs, your placeholder text should follow the same footprint.
That simple habit catches overflow, imbalance and awkward white space much earlier. Better placeholder choices lead to better design feedback before real copy is written.
